This link leads to the journal of a man, who is recording the relationship between him and his father, and most importantly, for whatever days they have left together. It's insanely touching and beautiful. In the past, when love is mentioned, the first thought that comes to my mind is the love couples have in a relationship, and that's the only love i would think of. Why so? Where's the family love i should be thinking of. Probably because i had no love in my family. Not that my family doesn't love me. Rather the love that i've not been giving them. At times i hate my sister for her attitude. My parents have no time for me, and i have no respect for them. Now that grandma;s got cancer, i think it brought our family closer. There're more visits to Grandma's house together. Occasionally, i hug my mom as a way of telling her we understand her pain. My sister has been having heart to heart talks with my mom. And dad has been very supportive by fetching mom to jurong, where grandma lives. To and fro. Now, that's called family. And perharps, love too. "No matter how hard you try, you can never extricate yourself from your family. They are integral to who you are, and the harder you try to distance yourself from them, the closer they become. So, why fight that feeling? You were put in your family for some cosmic reason, and it remains unthinkable to consider life without them. They stick closer than we could ever hope or reason to think. I say embrace this opportunity rather than minimize it." |
